Ghosts
A downloadable larp
“Tonight the dead may seek to live again. But the night is short and the path back will not be easy. May I guide them skillfully as the Eagle, Crow, and Owl watch over them. Welcome to my campfire, Ghosts who seek life!”
You are a ghost wandering in limbo with little memory of your life. You’ve been drawn to a mysterious campfire because you’re unhappy with the course that your life took. In order to reinvent yourself and return to life, you must first recall the life you lived and your past misfortune. With the help of the Guide and the other ghosts, you’ll forge relationships, make choices, and commit to a great sacrifice in order to create a better life before the third Watch ends.
Ghosts is a live-action roleplaying game written by Adam Kenney and Suko Toyofuku for 4 - 6 players and 1 - 2 facilitators. It’s rules-light, atmospheric, and very introspective, with no pre-generated characters. You’ll co-create your character and develop the setting through in-game conversations and ritual prompts.
This game was designed to have very high replay value. Each run results in different characters and a different interpretation of the living world. Although the themes and challenges of the game are largely the same from run to run, it should be possible to replay it - even with the same group of people - and have a fresh experience.
This game has been playtested for years and consistently produces a fun, immersive, and often transformative experience for both facilitators and players. It is accessible for first-time larpers to play. Those who have repeatedly played and facilitated the game have called it "a lovely scripted meditation of a game", "a beautiful, immersive, emotionally resonant game", and "a great and replayable framework for meaningful storytelling".
This purchase includes all materials for a Virtual Edition that is thoughtfully designed for online play via Zoom, as well as an In-Person Edition with tips for physical distancing.

I've played this game twice now, and it amazes me how different an experience it can be on replay! The collaborative nature means that each person brings something different to the table, and the way we play off each other and build together creates a totally unique experience.
I love how emotionally involved Ghosts can get, and appreciate how the rules have created so many safeguards to ensure that people can communicate healthily with one another about boundaries. It's unlike any other LARPing experience I've heard of, I love the atmosphere and how deep you get to tap into your character! I highly recommend it, especially for people who love to roleplay and improvise.
great game! It’s not my usual style but i ended up being so glad i played. You can go as deep or as frivolous as you like and it’s fun for everyone either way. What a clever, interesting idea!
This is a wonderful game. I've played it virtually, and watched it played outdoors, during the the gloaming of a fall day. It is serious without being dull, can be humorous, yet is never trivial. Would highly recommend playing if you haven't already.
This is a deeply moving game, which I have had the good fortune to play several times, and to run as well. With a carefully crafted mood, and open character prompts, the script for this game takes the characters and the players into themselves to remind each one what has value to them, and what it means to be alive. I highly recommend this game.
